Zelensky Engages in Diplomatic Calls with Leaders of Seven Nations Following Meeting with Kellogg

The diplomatic calls followed Zelensky’s meeting with Keith Kellogg, the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, who is currently visiting Kyiv.
Key Diplomatic Discussions
In his dialogue with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Zelensky underscored Ukraine’s commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in 2024, expressing hope for South Africa’s support.
Security guarantees, weapon supplies, and investments in domestic defense production were the main topics of discussion between Zelensky and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. Both leaders agreed that Ukraine, the U.S., and Europe must collaborate and maintain a united front in diplomatic negotiations.
Bilateral relations and mutual perspectives on reliable security guarantees were the focal points of the discussion between Zelensky and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron exchanged updates on their engagements with global leaders and coordinated strategies for security assurances. They shared views on reinforcing Ukraine’s security framework to ensure that Russia cannot launch future aggressions.
“The objective for both Ukraine and France is to establish a just and enduring peace that is realistically attainable. The President of Ukraine highlighted the necessity for a robust security structure, one that permanently prevents Russia from attacking any nation,” stated the Office of the President of Ukraine.
On February 20, President Zelensky met in Kyiv with Keith Kellogg, the Special Representative of former U.S. President Donald Trump for Ukraine and Russia. Prior to this, Kellogg held discussions with Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, as well as with intelligence and security officials.
Initially, a joint press conference was planned following the meeting. However, at the request of the U.S. delegation, it was canceled, as confirmed by Serhiy Nikiforov, the press secretary of the Ukrainian President. According to Nikiforov, Kellogg is expected to stay in Ukraine for another day and may visit the front lines.
Following the meeting, Zelensky expressed gratitude to the United States for its continued assistance and bipartisan support, emphasizing the critical importance of U.S. influence in global security.
“A constructive discussion took place, covering key details. I am thankful to the United States for its unwavering support of Ukraine and its people. It is crucial for Ukraine and the free world that America’s strength is evident. We thoroughly analyzed the battlefield situation and strategies for securing the release of all prisoners, as well as effective security guarantees,” Zelensky remarked regarding his conversation with Kellogg.
Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to peace from the outset of the war, stressing the need for a sustainable and reliable peace agreement.
“We have the opportunity and obligation to ensure that peace is both lasting and dependable so that Russia can never resort to war again. Ukraine is prepared to engage in a robust and beneficial agreement with the U.S. on investment and security. We have proposed the swiftest and most constructive path to achieving results. Our team is ready to work around the clock,” he added.
Zelensky further emphasized the global significance of successful U.S.-Ukraine relations and thanked General Kellogg for his role in advancing crucial diplomatic objectives.
Prior to meeting with Zelensky, Keith Kellogg met with Andriy Sybiga to explore pathways to a just and lasting peace. Sybiga reiterated Ukraine’s determination to secure peace through strength and outlined the necessary actions to achieve this goal.
